Hi jcapozella,

Welcome to the forum!

I've read they are uncommon in the more northern states though I believe there are populations along the lower Hudson and Long Island areas (Hempstead Bay and one or two others)...

Let's see if anyone else has more information on them.

Cheers,
Gordon

I have read that some of the best places to see them are:
Gateway National Recreation Area
Great South Bay Islands
Hempstead Bay Islands
Jamacia Bay National Wildlife Refuge
Latest Lifer: Collared Flycatcher

Hey I agree with Doug, Gateway National Recreation Area , Great South Bay Islands are best places to see Yellow-crowned night-herons but its difficult to find them in Freeport.
