Hi All,
I met up with Henk and Cornelis from Birdlasser to do some birding in the Eastern suburbs of Brisbane on Saturday.
The original plan was to try for the Hudsonian Godwit at Sandgate but we decided to rather try for some Brisbane birds that Cornelis had not seen before (he flew up from NSW for a short visit).
The birds seen on the day include:
Cotton Pygmy Goose and Wandering Whistling Duck at Sandgate Second Lagoon Reserve, Mangrove Geregone, Sacred Kingfisher, Australian Gull and Striated Heron at Nudgee Beach Reserve and finally after driving back up the coast to Tinchi Tamba we finished the morning with Satin/Leaden Flycatcher (I was trying to figure out the difference in the calls and this bird appeared when I was listening to the Satin, though apparently Leaden can respond to Satin calls!), Figbird and White-throated Honeyeater amongst others.
All in all a fantastic day out and great to meet up with Henk and Cornelis!
Cheers,
Gordon
